For love of family, the Alentejo and the countryside

From the Alentejo plain to the heart of the village

Monte da Aferrada is a tourism project located in the picturesque and well-situated village of Alpalhão, offering two distinct experiences: a Monte, with two houses integrated into the Alentejo plain, and two other typical houses, located in the very heart of Alpalhão.

Inspired by the surrounding landscape, Monte da Aferrada was designed to make your visit a unique, comfortable, and relaxing experience. Monte da Aferrada arises from the pursuit of happiness and the search for peace in the countryside.

"Monte" Houses

Monte da Aferrada reflects the colors that tint the landscape of Alto Alentejo throughout the various seasons of the year. From whitewash to the warm tones of the plains, the Monte is intended for all who seek rest, whether alone or in good company, who value nature preservation, and who want to discover the true spirit and charm of Alentejo.

Alpalhão is a small village in the municipality of Nisa, in Alto Alentejo, situated on the plain between the São Mamede mountain range and the Tagus River. It is known for its thermal waters, cheese, and the pottery and embroidered fabrics crafted by local artisans.

“Village” Houses

The Village houses revive the tradition of old Alentejo houses and are intended for all who want to experience the life of old times, with all the comfort and convenience of today.

Experiences

The trails that start from Monte da Aferrada cross plains, mountains, waterfalls, river beaches, villages, castles, and dolmens. Whether on foot, horseback, off-road, by bike, or balloon, there are villages and monuments to discover, wines to taste, picnics to enjoy, and stories to tell.

Wines

Inspired by the wonderful people, culture, and gastronomy of a small yet great village, Monte da Aferrada wines are born from the dream of making unique, intense, elegant wines with great aromatic complexity and natural freshness that result from respecting nature and the unique terroir in Alto Alentejo.
